In august and September 2006, the “Vida- Art” foundation have organized and held two plenary sessions in the town of Vidin and district.
During August, September and October 2006,”Vida-Art” foundation carried out five self-dependent exhibitions and participated in a single common.
First plenary session
The plenary took place from 1st to 15th of August. Nine artists from Sankt-Pterburg and three from Vidin participated in it. The artist-students from Sankt-Peterburg were representative of the State Academy Institute at painting, sculpture and architecture “ I.E. Repina”, The Art-Industrial Academy of Sankt-Peterburg “Muhinoy”, The State University of Technology and Design in Sankt-Peterburg. The artists from Vidin were represented in the person of “St. st. Kiril and Metodi” secondary school with intensely study in arts. The plenary was supported by the Bulgarian artists’ union-Vidin and Municipality of Vidin.
A visit and introduction of the cultural and architectural monuments in Vidin for the Russian guests were included into the plenary program.
For the time spent in Vidin (1-7 and 12-15 of august) the guests had opportunity to enjoy the medieval fortress “Baba Vida”, the house-museum “Konaka”, cathedrals “St. Dimitar”, “St. Pantaleimon”, “St. Nikolai”, the Cross-shaped barracks, the Mosque, Osman Pazvantoglou’s library, etc. Meetings were held with the artists from Vidin - Chavdar Petrov, Veselin Natsin and the guests had the opportunity to get to know with their creative work when visited the artists’ studios. On 6th of august the artists visited the Rakovitsa monastery “Sveta Troitsa” and painted in the village of Rakovitsa.
From 7th to 12th of august, the painters were in Belogradchik and draw the unique rock formation; they have visited the Fortress and the Art gallery. A particular interest provoked their visit of the “Magura” cave with its unique prehistoric paintings.
The plenary was vast reverberated with TV, radio, newspapers like “Standard”, the supplement of the “Labour” newspaper and “24hours”, “Zlatia”, “Vidin”, “Nie’, etc.
The local TV programs like “Fanty-G” and Vidin television made wide reportages for the artists from Sankt-Peterburg. The Federal Russian TV channel “Culture” has announced for the Russian artists participation in that plenary.
August 14th The plenary session has ended up in the fortress “Baba Vida”. The exhibition together with chamber cast of the Philharmonic orchestra turned into one of the cultural events of the month. The beauty of bulagarian nature, the old Vidin, the imposing Danube River, Belogradchik rock formation and picturesque sights of Bulgarian village have enchanted the artists and they represented more than 100 paintings and pictures. The exhibition was opened from the mayor of Vidin Dr. Ivan Tsenov. In the initiative took place Mr. Dimitar Todorov – deputy governor, Kornelia Iordanova – chief branch culture at Municipality of Vidin, Elena Djuninska – Art gallery director in Blogradchik, etc… The participants were awarded from the mayor with Diploma for participation. One of the artists has dedicated her own verse to the town they have loved:
“My Vidin,
Like my Paris,
Curtsy colorful life…”

Second plenary session
The second plenary held from 1st to 15th of September and participated eight artists and five photographers. Guests were lecturers and students from the State Academy Institute at painting, sculpture and architecture “ I.E. Repina” (Snankt-Peterburg), The Art-Industrial Academy of Sankt-Peterburg “Muhinoy”, The State University of Technology and Design in Sankt-Peterburg, the “Nevski language and culture institute”.
It was supported by Mr. Krastio Spasov – governor of Vidin, Municipality of Vidin and the Bulgarian artists union –Vidin.
The painters were accommodated at tourist base in the “Bojouritsa” countryside, which is located in the suburbs of Vidin. There, the creators had the chance to delight in the beauty of the nature, snug atmosphere and hospitality of the Bulgarian village. They have depicted that unique Bulgarian colour and sprit in their paintings.
Besides Vidin land marks, the artists were again on a visit to Belogradchik and were accommodated in a small neat village tucked away amidst the picturesque rocks.
The photographer Georgi Stefanov has organized, especially for the guests, a walking tour midst the most beautiful rock routes. The artists were enchanted with the beauty of the nature phenomenon. They have visited the Fortress, the “Magurata” cave, the Rabisha Lake and many other landmarks in the region.

The foundation chairman Krasimir Krastev was invited and took place several times in the morning broadcast of Fanty-G television, where in length told about the plenary.
A participant in the plenary, the famous Peterburg artist Anatolii Nachev, together with Krasimir Krastev took place in the broadcast of TV Vidin – “Debates”.
The second plenary ended up with two exhibitions in Vidin.
September 11th The first exhibition was carried out on the open pontoon “Barge”, where the paintings from the both plenary sessions were represented. It was organized together with Mr.Georgi Georgiev and accompanied with concert of the Dance study at “Youth home” Vidin. The exhibition was opened by the chairman of the foundation “Vida-Art” – Krasimir Krastev. In the exhibition took place the mayor of Vidin Dr. Ivan Tsenov, Mr. Dimitar Todorov, and Mrs. Nadia Antonova – M.P. from Vidin, and other officials bodies.
The event was broadcasted by BNTV, local TV and newspapers, BTA, BNR, radio “Focus”, etc…
September 13th – 20th
Second exhibition was directed from The Art gallery “Nikola Petrov”. There were represented the creations of the second group, the visitors could have seen the work of the painter-photographer Georgi Sarafov. Dr. Ivan Tsenov was the one who opened the exhibition and awarded all the participants in that plenary. The final of the opening was noted with a festal dinner directed from the mayor of Vidin, especially for the artists.
After ending the both plenary sessions, the foundation “Vida – Art” has presented the municipality of Vidin with twenty-eight paintings and photography works created during the time of the plenary.

Foundation “Vida-Art” organized, after ending the plenary sessions, two self-dependent and a single common exhibitions:
From September 29th to September 31st The exhibition was related to the feast of Dimovo town and was organized together with Dimovo municipality. It was opened by the mayor of Dimovo Mr. Todor Iliev. Many official bodies and guests were at the feast. There were more than 40 works represented. The exhibition was enrolled into the cultural calendar of the feast.
The municipality of Dimovo and Mr. Todor Iliev in personal, expressed their will to cooperate in future projects with “Vida – Art” foundation.
From 9th of October to October 20th The exhibition was held at the Russian information-cultural center in the city of Sofia. The foundation has represented the best works from both plenary sessions. It was opened by the director of the RICC Mr. Vladimir Ivanov:
“The exhibition is a view over the hot Bulgaria from our northern capital”. Mr. Ivanov has expressed the will of the RICC in developing joint projects in the future. Participants in the opening were the Cultural Ministry, the Artists union, the Art gallery, artists, students of the Art Academy, newsmen of Itar-Tass and local TVs and newspapers.
Related to a future cooperation, the foundation has presented RICC with two paintings.
October 26th Joint “Ecological” exhibition dedicated to the feast of Vidin. It was organized by Bogomil Petrov – ecologist at the Bulgarian tourist union. There were represented scores of ecological photography. The foundation has participated with 12 photography works which were donated to the organizers.
